Question

I am a pro per plaintiff doing a narrative. defense counsel has requested a copy of the narrative so they can prepare objections beforehand. is this proper or can I object?

Answer

What do you mean by a narrative?

Answer

What's a narrative? You might want to provide some more detailed background.

Answer

I presume what you mean is that you will testify by telling your story instead of by asking yourself questions and then answering them. I see nothing wrong with defense counsel's request, but I don't think you have to go along with it. Your question is a bit vague, though. Did they make this request to you directly, or have they asked the court for an order?
