Difference between a mouse and a trackball?

Difference between a mouse and a trackball?
A mouse is designed to move around a desktop or other surface. The trackball is made to be stationary (that is, it doesn't move around). Most people prefer a mouse, but a trackball is used when space is limited by lack of a desktop, say, if you're on a plane or bus. Older mice actually have a trackball underneath them, which responds to the surface over which the mouse is being moved. A trackball, on the other hand, responds to your hand moving over the TOP surface of the ball.
