In an Estate what is deemed furnishings and what is personal property?

Question

In an Estate what is deemed furnishings and what is personal property?

Answer

Technically, everything that's not real estate is personal property, so it would include furniture. But as a practical matter, one doesn't usually include the sofa and the pots and pans on an inventory of an estate, unless you've got a Stickley dining room set or something. Used furniture simply isn't worth the time to list and value. If you have siblings who are fighting over the lawn chairs, you might have to make the effort, but it's a time and resource waster to do so.
