What does blindness symbolise?

What does blindness symbolise?
Blindness is the case where we can't see..It is a condition that affects our eyes. Literature uses the condition to symbolize a lot. You say one is blind to something if he or she fails to notice it, eg: He is blind towards the sufferings of his wife.
Blindness symbolizes carelessness, neglect, indifference.

We also take blindness to metaphorically relate to impartiality, hence the eyes of justice are blindfolded indicating justice will shower upon no matter who deserves it and to take action against how much ever influential the culprit be.

Blindness also indicate our lack of knowledge or stupidity. Blindness also indicates a state of being unaware of conspiracy or being in the dark where the truth is separated from us usually by someone who plans to trick us. When one is jealous or selfish we call them blind...And when one is in love they are said be blind as true love never depends on what you see and secondly when one is in love they are always in a dreamland unable to retreat back into their real surroundings...that is also referred to as being blindly in love.

When we are extremely sad and separate ourselves from the world even that is a state of blindness...Lack of realization of our surroundings is blindness again...
