Yes. There are penailties for both that can be quite severe, including possilbe incarceration for the parent and the possilbilty of DCF invovlement. If you plan on drinking, drink at home, not to the level of intoxication. If you need to go out, find a designated legal non-drinking driver or take a cab. You would be much better off this way.
