How does a car run on fossil fuels?
Crude oil is split into many different fractions, called hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons are of different chain length, one hydrocarbon is petroleum, in an internal combustion engine petroleum vapour is mixed with air, when combusted in cylinders the chemical energy is converted into kinetic energy which powers the car.
