Do rental car have smoke detect?

Do rental car have smoke detect?
no they do not. Neither does any other car.

I received a call just this morning from a car renter who had a quest who smoked in the rental car he had to turn in. He stated that the tape (Smoke detector) had turned a deeper color, indicating someone had been smoking. I was unsure of the tape system he was speaking of, and the only suggestion I had was to not only shampon the carpet and upholstery, I would have to sanitize the air circulation systems to eliminate the smoke odor. I'm researching the smoke detector system
the renter was speaking of. So I suppose there is a smoke detector in some rental cars. Stay tuned.

If you are wondering how you might smoke in a rental car and not get caught, you're out of luck. I can always tell when a customer has smoked in a car. The smell gets into the upholstery and the interior plastics and is very obvious to people who don't smoke. You might not smell it, but we can.

And if that smell is so hard to get out that we have to send the car to a detailer for a $300 shampoo job, you can expect to be billed for it. :)
