If I left my personal things in grandmothers basement and she said I can then she has someone come in and throw her but my stuff came up missing can I sue her
Answer
Something like this is called a "bailment" (also includes coat checks, parking garages, etc.) and the theories of liability vary depending on the circumstances. Sounds like a gratuitous bailment, the lowest level of responsibility. Not an easy case to win, esp since essentially, she was doing you a favor ("gratuitously") and you better have proof of what each item is worth AND that they were there and removed. Please also consider that although judges are there to uphold and interpret the law, they are human beings and could consider someone suing a grandmother...
