What is stroked?

What is stroked?
"Stroked" is street term for a stroker kit. There are two basic ways to do it; change the size of the actual piston to a shorter version or to replace the connecting rods with a shorter version. Both changes the distance that the piston travels in the cylinder. Since the piston goes down farther into the cylinder it allows more gasoline and air to enter the cylinder. So when the spark plug fires the explosion is bigger due to the extra gasoline and air, which produces more horsepower. The trademark of a stroker is that deep rumbling noise, similar to the one made by a Harley Davidson motorcycle. But these kits are expensive are very difficult to install, not for the faint of heart.
