Question

My ex fiancee is asking me to terminate my parental rights so her current husband can adopt. I am not opposed to this since I have never had a relationship with the child but I will only do this if past, current and future child support is waived. How do I know the child support is actually being waived? I'm afraid of giving up my parental rights and still paying child support.

Answer

Hire competent counsel to draft the agreement of relinquishment of parental rights and all accrued arrears -- there are some hoops to jump through, given the case law, but it can be done, with relative certainty.
